Echo Thread Projects was started in 2023 by Gregg Yupanki Bautista as an independent creative platform to release his works in poetry, music, and art under a single entity. He found himself wanting to collaborate with other creatives more actively, specifically by supporting writers of marginalized identities.

In 2024, he refocused the original mission for ETP and turned it into a platform to support others’ work, creating Echo Thread Books to publish poetry collections and creating/facilitating a monthly poetry open mic series called Poets & Storytellers Open. Through Poets & Storytellers Open, local and not-quite-local writers are welcomed to share their works in a space dedicated to original writing, in addition to hosting a poet every month (occasionally a musician) to highlight their craft in a featured performance. We also wanted the press to function as a small, independent facilitator that created a bridge between our local literary community around Hopewell, NJ and communities in other parts of the tri-state area.

In 2025, we became a member of CLMP (Community of Literary Magazines and Press).

With the founding of Echo Thread Books, our mission as a press is to collaborate with BIPOC poets and artists, inclusive of women and LGBTQIA+ folks, so as to publish meaningful works that represent their perspectives and experiences, which may not always be readily represented.
