eso malflor

eso malflor (b.1994) is a queer, non-binary, trans, first-generation Mexican-Norwegian-American artist from Houston, Texas. Their practice is rooted in all that is trans: transsexual, transformative, transitional, trans-national and transitory. Through a variety of media, they challenge the pathologizing and demonizing of queer and trans bodies by drawing attention to the inherent transness of our natural world. Their work has been recognized with support from the Minnesota State Arts Board, Metro Regional Arts Council, Foundation for Contemporary Art, CACHE Creative Exchange Fund, and Oak Spring Garden Foundation. eso’s work is in the collections of the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and private collections across the US. They are currently based between Chicago IL and Trondheim, Norway.

eso will be publishing their debut chapbook, EVERYTHING IS IN SEARCH OF EQUILIBRIUM, through Echo Thread Books in November 2025.
